I love Robert Rose books, and this one is no different. Best of Bridge Weekday Suppers is the perfect cookbook. Whether you are an experienced cooker, or new to cooking, this cookbook will help you out of any jam. Recipes include supper soups, super salads, supper sandwiches, and recipes for chicken, beef, veal, lamb, pork, fish, and vegetarian dishes, and quick and easy desserts. You will love this cookbook, as much as, if not more than me.
The vegetarian section is my 21 year old, daughter’s, favorite section. She cooks out of it often, and says it’s delicious and filling. She said “I love this cookbook mom, and it’s mine now.” She uses the book at least 3 times a week.
The delectable weekday recipes include Smoky Tomato Chickpea Soup with Grilled Cheese Croutons, Shrimp and Bacon Spinach Salad, Pineapple Pulled Pork Buns, Stovetop Gnocchi and Beef Stew, Rosemary Lamb and Feta Meatballs on Lemon Garlic Potatoes, Curried Turkey Pot Pie, Thai Shrimp Cakes and Baked Mushroom and Herb Risotto. Seriously Good Freezer Meals is a super great book, if you work a lot. Because you can make the meals ahead of time, and freeze them for later.
I’ve tried many recipes out of this book, but none top Boneless BBQ Pork Ribs. They are so delicious, and can be found on page 189. It’s simple to put together, and cook, when ready. This book is really cool, because there’s a Make it now, Make it a freezer meal, and even Reheat. You can also find a guideline, at the bottom of each page, to make multiple batches.

I love the new Quick-Fix Dinners Cookbook from Southern Living. It makes dinner time so much more satisfying, because it doesn’t take as long to make it now.
No longer stress at dinner time, now you have recipes, at your fingertips, that take literally 10 – 30 minutes. The Veggie Roll-ups is one of my favorites, and the first that I tried. It took no time at all to get it made, and was delicious.
In QUICK-FIX DINNERS, the editors of Southern Living magazine have streamlined crowd-pleasing Southern classics and modern fare to bring you recipes that take just 10, 20 or 30 minutes to make, (like a 30-minute Cast Iron Chicken Picatta, a 20-minute side of Roasted Broccoli with Orange-Chipotle Butter, and 10-minute Ambrosia Meringue Trifles!).
My husband’s favorite is the Chicken and Wild Rice Salad. He loves rice, so this was great for Joe. Page 171, for this recipe, and it’s delicious as well. It only takes 10 – 12 minutes to cook. Because of the fact, that you use a packet of rice, instead of making it from long grain rice.
Even 6 year old, Jacob, will eat when I use Quick-Fix Dinners. Jacob loves that I have more time to play with him, because dinner doesn’t take quite so long, when I’m cooking from the cook book. He loves the food, too. I do think he loves that I have more time for him, but he actually eats what we put on his plate. Which, he never does, and now it’s habit.
I’ve always loved Southern Living, but now they have given me a new found love for them.
